80% full and satisfied

It is a good rule of thumb to eat until you are 80% full and satisfied versus 110% full and stuffed. Pay attention to your fullness factor. When you are satisfied, leave the rest. Throw the rest away or put it away as a leftover. After the food is on your plate, making a decision to eat it or throw it away is not going to impact world hunger. Don’t turn yourself into a human garbage can by eating food when you are not hungry just to keep from throwing it away.  If this sounds too wasteful, make an effort to put less on your plate. And one more thing, for those of you who need permission –

“It is really OK if you don’t clean your plate!”
