Kathryn A. Allen, MA, RD, LD/N, CSO

Kathy is currently the Director of the Department of Nutrition, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. She is registered, licensed and holds a Master’s Degree in Adult Education. Kathy has practiced in the field of dietetics for approximately 27 years and has extensive experience with weight management, diabetes, wellness and health maintenance. She has also been involved with nutrition research which led to several publications on body weight, chemoprevention, cancer risk reduction and a Community Grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Kathy will be holding a series of workshops this coming year and will be starting a series of group classes called “Why Weight?” for those who are interested in getting on the path to wellness and achieving a healthy weight. She specializes in evidence based nutrition guidance with a  practical approach to weight management. Her style of teaching is fun, informative and designed to empower individuals to take control of their eating without feeling deprived. She will also be available for individual consultations at Take the First Step studio.
